Thanks to Helen Ang for reminding us who, really, are the racists in this country. Some Malaysians are perpetuating the idea that the Malays and Umno are pursuing a racist agenda. Nothing is further from the truth. But why is Najib so tidak papa? Why isn't he taking action?
I don't remember Helen asking so many questions in a single posting as she is in her latest one, How did racist Umno allow so many Chinese to become so rich?

Is this the quality of logic coming from you, rocky?
ReplyDeleteYou can list thousand of bumi multi-millionaires - why the need for housing discount then?
You can list hundred of thousand of middle income bumi, is there still a need for favourable racial policies?
The answer is YES - cos we look at the masses especially those at the lower end of the curve whike ignoring the super rich..
Now apply the same. PLS IGNORE THE RICH CHINESE in your arguments. The super rich can complain all they want but we should be paying attention to the not rich!
The poor and struggling non bumi hawkers are suffering as much as the poor bumi citizens.
Your statement "Some Malaysians are perpetuating the idea that the Malays and Umno are pursuing a racist agenda." There is some truth here but why no mention or not try asking the opinion of majority of us wage earners - bumi or otherwise, face problem trying to make a living.
TOP EDITORs should report balanced views. Are you one of them or in reality just in name only?
Why are u so racist..malay this malay that..tone down yr racism pls
DeleteIt is very common people like to use rich people in malaysia to deny anti-chinese. If 38 out of 50 rich people are chinese is considered non anti-Chinese. How about the high rank officer work in GLC, government scholarships, house price discount and others. In fact Most of the Banks, TNB, Telelom, Syabas, Foods industries, Military and others all related to POWER all governed by Malays. This is an out dated excuse to deny anti-Chinese.

ReplyDeleteLatuk, thank you for this priceless gem:
"But why is Najib so tidak papa?"
Meaning,
"Why is Najib so callously disregarding the good name of Tun Razak"?
Yes, he is "tidak papa" indeed. Not even close to Papa.
What a shame.
ReplyDeleteYour argument is a cliched one, that has been recycled a million times before.
What would the distribution of wealth among the top 1% of any populace say about the rest? Precisely nothing.
It's tantamount to saying that because of AK and Tony Fernandez, all Indians are OK. It is far more glaring with the Malays than the Chinese or Indians, actually. Indians on household average income are at RM5,233, Chinese at RM6,366 and Bumiputeras at RM4,457 - after 40 years of affirmative action that has mainly gone into Umno pockets.
Our GINI coefficient, across all races, is still among the worst in Asia - in plain terms, the gap between rich and poor is growing.
Very few ordinary Malays have the incredible privileges of UMNO KBU, to have 7-figure "donations" from the Donation King banked into their accounts and not have to explain why. Lucky them.
Of course the main weakness in your argument is that wealth and racism are connected entities. They aren't, of course.
If I tell AK to "balik India" that is racist, but he's still rich.
See?
And your "point" was?
Ummmmmm...
Typical ultra Melayu arguments.
ReplyDeleteYa, they accumulated wealth by sitting on their asses. And they wait for govt to give full scholarship to their idiot children to study in London.
What cock you talking?
Does anybody really believes that they've become super rich totally of their sheer hardwork in doing business?...without relating them to bribery...manupilating...illegal business...gangsterism...and the list goes on!
ReplyDeleteHelen also said in her post that once you're in the big boys club, you're no longer Malay, Chinese, Indian dll but you're "Malaysian."
ReplyDeleteIt's not the matter of the rich ones but the have-nots who are fighting each other to put a decent meal on the table.
I guess you neither heard the racist comments nor saw the racist banners at the 169 himpunan. Neither did you hear the comments made by our own dear PM subsequently endorsing racism. Oh probably you also didn't read the newspapers about the threats made by Jamal and Ali Tinju.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThe fight should not be framed solely by race but rather by part race, part social status. The rich vs the poor.
Yang pergi lawan cina petaling street buat apa? Diorang pun miskin.
Pergi lalawan kroni kroni umno dan tauke tauke cina la PLUS cina top management private sectors yang discriminate against malay professionals.
Tapi pemimpin - pemimpin umno nak lah benda benda macam ni untuk kekal berkuasa.
Satu lagi, kita kena kekalkan fokus.
The Chinese made good DESPITE the discrimination. Get it?
ReplyDeleteLook at the converse, despite the pro-Malay policies, many Malays are still poor.
You missed out Najib Razak. RM2.6 bil. Politician.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't use this old argument again and again Bru.
Sebab kalau korang guna alasan sama ni, maknanya selama pemerintahan UMNO, apa yang UMNO buat untuk memajukan Melayu?
Ingin saya INGATKAN kerajaan kita dikuasai MELAYU.
Mengapa peniaga/entrepenuers Melayu masih kekurangan?
Mana kepincangan polisi kerajaan UMNO?
Muhd
At least billions that they made coming from REAL hard work. Not some kind of 'donation'.
ReplyDeleteOne thing is certain. None of those billions coming from taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteI wrote at FB a few years ago in response to a post on the same to ask how Malaysia and its Malay-led government and which gives so many supposedly biased benefits and privileges to the Malays while also "neglecting" the non-Malays could have its economy dominated to the tune of maybe 85/90% by the Chinese, also have major sectors like finance, banking, construction, real estate, public listed companies, wholesale, retail, underground business, entertainment & god knows what else controlled tightly by the same? and given this scenario, it appears that those already in firm control of this non-political side of the country want more. talk about fairness and equality.........
ReplyDeleteRocky, I didnt see Najib on the list. Should be on top ten. Please update the list, tks
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteUmno isn't.
Umno Najib is.
So there.
yeahhhh..if malays were really that racist as what chinese said how come they control the economy ?
ReplyDeletecan some smart chinese answer this please?
Some very rich individuals who are Chinese control the economy and with their wealth are no longer beholden to the problems of ordinary people. Where does that leave the rest of us?
DeleteBaju merah tu tak racist ker bro?? What they were chantings?? Sad
ReplyDeleteYou are sadder..better baca history yer bro/sis..
DeleteBullshit as usual. Except for a few of them, the business empire of the majority of these rich Chinese millionaires are NOT from Malaysia. For example, Robert Kuok has not been staying in Malaysia for at least several decades, what more his business are all based in China and Hong Kong. Coming from Helen, it's as good as shits.
ReplyDeleteRace has always been used by the elite to divide and control the masses. They have no problem dealing with other wealthy individuals of different races, religions or cultures so long as there is money to be made in the upper echelons of business. In the geo-eco-political level, it is known as trade. Malaysia trades with most any country if it is able to sell and export its products there. For instance, Malaysia will trade with China, India, South Korea.
ReplyDeleteBut on a local level, because the government has instituted and systematically nurtured a socio-political culture of divisiveness and racism for it's own political ends, we find that the racial divide between the Malays and non-Malays in the working class growing. The use of race differences is a convenient strategy to pit one against the other while the UMNOPUTRAS distract us and abscond with the wealth of the country. Yes, the Chinese and Indians in the country do have success stories despite the barriers of entry into business. In general, the non-Malays have made their wealth because they have learned through many generations of business enterprise, despite hardships and instituted barriers, to build a business from scratch and make them grow.
It's time for the Malays to prove themselves on their own terms without riding the coat-tails of counterparts. But with a track record of failures and scandals that have plagued bumiputera and government sponsored business in the past, such as Cowgate, the Scorpene fiasco, the multiple MAS bankruptcies and the latest 1MDB scandal, one is not instilled with a great deal of confidence that the Malays (despite government support) have learned how to run high stakes businesses without running it into the ground.
The racism against the non-Malays is evident as there are barriers of entry for them into the civil service, higher education, the armed forces and the police.

Malaysia is so anti Cinese so that is why civil servants all Malays?
ReplyDeleteWhat cock talk by all the Ah Koks and kok-eyes from Red Bean here.
Of course the Cinese are not in civil service or army or poli. But that is not because Malaysia is anti-Cinese.
It is because of one thing and one thing only --- the salary (the RM) is so small.
Kok small bad enough, kok and salary both small ... how?
Hihi.
FREE TIBET!! FREE TIBET!! FREE TIBET!!
ReplyDeleteChinese in Malaysia are rich because they work hard, in spite of all the obstacles imposed by the Malay regime. Chinese never take a day's rest after a day's work. Chinese never complain of hard work unlike other races. Chinese never hold out their hand for government handouts, unlike other races.
ReplyDeleteWe have a saying - when a chinese make 1 million, he buys a property. When a Malay makes 1 million, he pays for a datukship, and marries another wife, and rents a condo for the new wife. How to be rich that way ? You can see from the list of 50 rich Malaysians - how come after 30+ years of NEP and all sorts of handouts, the Malays on the list are so few ? Has anyone of you tried to find out what happened to the previous rich Malays like Tajuddin Ramli, Halim Saad and Wan Azmi ? Once a chinese gets on the list, he stays on the list. That should tell you the difference between a chinese and a Malay.
A Simple not-so-rich Cina Babi
Eh, Latuk Locky, how come your boss is not on the list ? 2.6 billion in his account in 2013....properties in the US bought by his stepson....diamonds and birkin handbags bought by his wife....alamak, he should at least appear in the top 50 for Malay maruah maaaaa.....

If oly our forefathers were ot too accomodatig to the outsiders ad givig them them some doatio whe they set foot o this Malay soil, we would ot have to incessantly with these pendatang...hmmm!
ReplyDeleteA certain Malay statesman is allegedly in possession of tens, maybe hundreds of billions on ringgit, all stashed offshore and here you are talking about rich Chinese, playing a broken record, or for that matter, we have seen this movie countless times.
