If Najib quits as PM today ...

- Merdeka Centre survey
If Najib Razak quits today, his cousin Hishammuddin Hussein, the Defence Minister and an Umno vice president, would be the people's No 1 choice as successor. Ot at least that's what the findings of the Merdeka Centre's latest survey say (Ramai rakyat Malaysia mahu Hishammuddin sebagai PM, menurut kajian - TMI, 11 March).
I don't think one can argue that much with the survey's findings. Hisham has been most savvy in building up his image to his fellow Malaysians. He's not only youthful, popular with both the guys and the gals regardless of race and class, he's also very hardworking. He's cultivated the adulation of some mainstream editors and there's an army of social media practitioners who are said to be at his beck and call, reminiscent of Anwar Ibrahim when he was Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's powerful deputy.
Likewise, KJ: the Sports and Youth Minister, whose communications team comprises strategic thinkers who are blessed with a boss who himself is a great PR for himself. KJ, like it or not, has been seen by and large to have done and said the right things by the people, esp the youths.
BUT lets' get one thing clear, Dear Readers: nobody's resigning. The Merdeka Centre's survey was carried out at the wake of calls made by some bloggers and politicians, urged on by exposes in their villain-turned-hero the Sarawak Report, (Taib the target before, Najib the target now, The Mole, March 12) that Najib should step aside (or step down) over a range of alleged wrongdoings, from  1MDB to his wife's hairdo.
That's not going to happen. Two reasons:
One, the UMNO leaders are solidly behind their President. If they had wanted to send Najib to pasture, they would have done so last November at the party's annual assembly. Last week, after an extended series of attacks on their Boss, the party leaders met to listen to his brief on 1MDB and other matters, and are satisfied that the issue is being used as a political weapon to attack Najib; and
Two, a special task force has been set up to look into the allegations. The Attorney-General, the Accoutant-General, the police, and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission are all on that Committee. The Auditor-General, who has exposed without fear or favour many irregularities and abuses in government, including the NFC scandal, which is an on-going court battle, is also in the picture.
Jazlan: "More Oppo than Oppo"
Last but not least, the PAC led by NurJazlan Tok Mat will also have a go at the 1MDB. As one YAB told me two nights ago, "Jazlan is more Opposition than Opposition. If Najib had made a hole in there (1MDB), he will use Najib to plug that hole."
Ah, but I've digressed.
Back to the survey. Like all surveys, this Merdeka Centre's survey is flawed. For one, it didn't have a single candidate from Sabah/Sarawak for the respondents to pick. It has also totally isolated the non-Melayus.
For more kepincangan and hidden agenda, read Helen Ang's Portal paling pro-Kristians sengaja kenakan Muhyiddin dan Mukhriz (12 March)

p.s. Me, I have published my view on why Hisham (and a few others) SHOULD NOT BE the next Prime Minister of this country in KJ, DPM? (16 Oct 2014).

I don't think Hisham can be a good PM. Muhyiddin is the best candidate, perhaps better than Najib.

Agreed with your findings... Merdeka surveys for me is a flawed and more to feed the current leaders; Read Umno lackey....

  4. Pandangan aku pula :-

Pengundi berumur belum tentu memilih KJ kerana sikap nya belum ingin menjadi matang...

    3. TPM Muhyiddin masih di selaputi dilemma. Buat salah, tidak buat juga salah. Kenyataan berapi hanya sesekali, tetapi padam begitu sahaja. Natijah nya Melayu sentiasa hilang pergantungan !

Iktibar nya :- PM Najib mesti segera bertindak agresif.

I think that mata sepet Melayu-wannabe Helen Ang is spinning badly, as always.

If the survey was rigged by TMI (which is blatantly pro-PR), then surely Al-Juburi's name would have been in the mix. But it wasn't. So of the names not listed, Moohideen dapat 1.0%, and Al-Juburi a crappy 0.7% (Padan muka.) That means neither of them is very top-of-mind for respondents.

    There was no fix.

"Hole-In-The-Head" Ang, lu mahu jadi Melayu so desperately, please get some integrity (and double eyelids.)

    Here we go again...

Rocky, you look defensive again, playing safe, try to minimize the damage that has been done by Najib and his inner ring for the past 2,3 yrs....

But please answer my question frm the bottom of your little frozen heart .....

Honestly, do you think Malaysian will still vote BN for the next General Election with Najib still remain as our Prime Minister?????

You hv your job, your obligation to your boss.. we knw tht, but there is a Malay satirical pharse sound "sokong bawa rebah"

I hope tht at outside the blogshere world ,in real life, your arent the same person.... it's just not you

    Joh...

......pssstt Bujai alrdy change his "tone"

Not an 'Indonesian First' PM for Malaysia ! Or may be it is time for Malaysia and Indonesia become one country !
After all Malaysia is what Indonesia once was, they too had oil, Casinos and horse racing not do long ago. Now that all these are just memories and where is the country now. Like wise very soon the black gold in Malaysia, it will be a question of time before Genting, at best, will be just a recreation centre. All the haram activities will be banned,
Genting must be aware that will happen to them someday soon and that is why they are in Singapore, Star Cruise. At the same time trying to be in many other foreign countries.
What is going to all the revenues going to come from to Malaysia.
All the scandals that are being revealed now Malaysia will undoubtedly become another Greece in this part of the world. What a bloody shamble under Umno since independen. !
Will there be any one fighting to become to be the PM of Malaysia ?

  10. Hishammuddin kerispondanmudin? Yes! Yes! Every ministry he holds have real deep problem. When he holds ministry of youth and sports , look what happened to the youth and our sports? ; when he holds, defence ministry, look how many issues raised to the county ; when he holds ministry of internal affair (home minister), what trouble he has created...he will be good and performed well when he is the minister for women affairs.. as a pm...? omg! Please don't make this happened!!

  11. Higham - he may have done relatively well in handling the MH370 briefings. But to handle A COUNTRY with all the intricacies and permutations regarding race, religion, the economy, security etc... Sorry, I have little confidence. And I know many have similar feelings.

By the way, many don't have much confidence in Merdeka's polls either. From previous ones, there often seems to an element of deceit, with the proponents trying to pursue some agenda and hiding behind the skirt of "public polls".

The poll must have included a lot of cow-head protestors.

There is a picture of Him leading the pack.
