When we were kids, we would look forward to celebrate in our kampung in Lubok China, Melaka. Each time, without fail, we would be reminded to give a doa of those "di perbatasan" who could not be home to celebrate with the family.
Do spare a thought for those on duty as we enjoy the ketupat & rendang ...
Selamat bertugas, Malaysian men and women in blue.
To my readers wherever you are, Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin.
On the video, its good for Semenanjung. It does not click well for East Malaysia.
Even this aspect, nothing to showcase national integration. How about in future, have someone Indian or Bidayuh, or Kadazan etc with the Muslim police personnel on duty?
This video is trying to say that only Muslims are at work in essential services during Raya.
The contributions of other ethnic communities to also support while majority Muslims celebrate - never considered? And thats Malaysia?
Some 'brute' behaviours during working out storylines for well meant messages never change, despite the constant 'harping' by fellow Malaysians.
hai... dah beranak membesar di sini pon....'saylamat hare raye'-cibai's accent still like a foreigner and this asshole paremeswara talk about integration. Batu api !
The Muslim/non-Muslim and civilian/cop portrayal in the Hari Raya commercial is heavy on symbolics. I did not see it as a Chinese-Malay thing, the way you see it. Perhaps because I am a little more colour blind than you are.
Our society is so diverse that if even a commercial like this one must portray every single ethnic group, then we can't really be interested in conveying any kind of message, right? Might as well do a documentary on the various races and ethnic groups.
Don't forget the sub-divisions of each race. I am a Minangkabau, he is a Bugis, she a Jawa, her husband a Banjar, your mom a Mendahiling, their teacher a Batak ..
Param, Muslims are at work in essential services not only during Raya but also Chinese New Year, Deepavali, X-Mas, etc. The police are working while you are sound sleeping. What is your problem?
