The Edge ni dah jadi macam 'cult' dalam finance/investment fraternity.
In fairness, Tong take long term approach masa nak bangunkan The Edge. Mula-mula dulu tulis pasal bisnes tambah sikit pasal polisi ekonomi lepas tu pasal politik dan seterusnya.
Awal-awal dulu The Edge ni free.
Kalau nak kira tak de lah rocket science sangat pun dia orang buat dalam masa 10 ke 15 tahun yang lepas as far as content is concerned. Instead of reporting 'plain' macam orang lain dia raise some questions along the way. Tu nampak analytical. To be fair to the others, dia orang weekly publication so lebih masa nak buat macam tu.
Insyallah.
Overpriced no problem. Just pay what he wants and make sure 10% commission back to the one approve the deal. Everything must have a minimum 10% commission or no deal.
why merged as with no competition, the media industry would go to the dogs like our civil service. msian enterprises must compete more lah. how to be jaguh globalisation if everything here want to merge
Why not they cut the big, fat salaries of the top editors and directors. During Steven Tan's time (ex MD) he was earning to the tune of about RM10 million a year!
Ask their Linda Ngiam (CEO) to cut her fat salaries first instead of kicking out so many good staff members who reached 55 in 2009.
Prior to her becoming CEO, Star used to keep people until past 70 years old There was a sports sub-editor who worked till mid 70s and people like V K Chin only left in his 70s.
But when Linda Ngiam took over she kicked out so many staff members but later took back those who crawled back kissing feet.
Star poured millions to acquire Cityneon - a Singapore-based company to go into exhibition business but lost RM24.3 million in goodwill impairment loss in the first year.
Buy The Edge? RM180 million? That $%# woman is going to face shareholders' wrath!
STAR and the EDGE and the SUN..notice who are the owners..Chinese business men. Who else if not Vincent Tan.
The SUN is a platform for anti Malay Terence Fernandex to rant about UMNO under the guise of citizens ..Nades etc all unemployable writers.. The Sun is owned by Berjaya.
The Edge is owned by that organised gambling koncho licensed by the Mahathir..Vincent Tan.
The STAR is owned by MCA. So the tone of the papers are all critical of UMNO and the Federal Constitution on scholarship etc..
Never about the billions amassed by the Chinese. They are smart so no need to talk about those billions they deserved the monopolies given by Mahathir.
So focused on the small contracts given to Malays... u get it.
