From the Star, here.
Original Article:
UEM vs Genisys, this morning at the Palace of Justice, Putrajaya. RM87 million is helluvaload of taxpayers' money.
Which is why it's in the taxpayer's interest to know whether the Federal Court today would uphold or throw out a decision by a Court of Appeal led by Gopal Sri Ram which in July 2008 not only reversed a High Court decision in favor of UEM but also ordered the Malaysian GLC to pay its former Singapore partner a sinful sum of RM87 million."Clearly, there are people who believe that the outcome of the UEM-Genisys feud ought to be highlighted because it could have broad implications. They may be right, and it’s not just about the money."Read Errol Oh's commentary in the Star yesterday, here.
Updates later...
Like everything else, the losses of rm87m, we think is anwar & pkr fault too... right?

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 11 — Non-governmental organisation Bersih Bangun Selangor (Bebas) today filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against Selangor Mentri Besar (MB) Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, over the UiTM campus project issue as reported by the Malay Mail on Jan 6.
Bebas chairman Mohd Abdul Raof Mokhtar said the Selangor government had directed Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan (YBK) to install Khalid as its chairman or stop all its development on the 179.2-hectare (448 acres) UiTM campus project site in Serendah.

The issue of Allah’s name in the Herald has been manipulated by Umno leaders to the hilt.
ReplyDeleteThe way Umno reacted to the issue seems to suggest that Allah is held dearly by Umno leaders. But is Allah really loved by Umno as He is supposed to be loved?
Umno is a great manifestation of those whose actions do not match their verbal expression of loving Allah.
How to express our love to Allah, the Most Exalted? How to gain His love in order to turn it into a mutual one; to ensure that we love Him and He loves us?
Allah says in the Quran: "If you love Allah, then follow me (i.e the Prophet ), Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful." (3:31)
This verse indicates that the pious person should express his love to Allah by believing in His Prophet and following the Message, and through obeying the Prophet, abiding by his orders, leaving what he prohibits and obeying all what Allah has revealed to him, because that is the vivid expression of the practical love that fills his whole entity.
Let us imagine if loving Allah becomes the tagline of Umno. Just pause a second to ponder if the Muslim politicians in Umno embrace this policy in their political struggle.
why does it seem that all the trails lead back to this little middle kingdom

"When it was Hindraf (in 2007), the government said ‘protests are not our culture.’ When people protested against the fall of the Perak government in early 2009, they said the same thing.
ReplyDelete"But when it came to these (the Friday) demos, ‘Government has no power to stop...’ Why play different music?” says the BN activist who declined to reveal his name for fear of reprisal.
Almost all non-Muslims and some Muslims interviewed requested anonymity or a change of name for fear of their personal security.
The Indian activist claims that among non-Muslim BN supporters, the feeling is that the coalition will be punished at the ballot box.
“BN’s survival rests on Sabah and Sarawak, and now we are going to lose in those two states,” says the activist.
A Malay-Muslim government officer described the violence and anger by his fellow Muslims as “stupid and ridiculous.”
I see a lot of sickos commentinga.

ReplyDeleteUMNO JUARA SALAH GUNA WANG RAKYAT - harakah daily
Bukankah Umno bersama BN memerintah Malaysia. Tidakkah Umno sedar yang ditolak oleh rakyat ialah kerajaan BN,” ujarnya.

Do people bother to read the article - the deal happen in 1993 - zaman Halim Saad lagi, so why blame UEM today?
ReplyDeletei say, brother,
ReplyDeleteYou know you are a BIG threat to Pakatan and their supporters.
your blog is an uber blog. so they are scared that what you write reaches to so many people.
They will stop at nothing to discredit you and demonize you.
I see the thread of comments against you and i see that these are simply a concerted strategy to just whack and whack you, no matter what it is -- and they keep saying, like a very tired record -- that you are a paid and pro- Umno blogger, Najib's man -- no matter it if is not true.
perhaps you should block all those comments.
then again, from what i see, you're not about to do that.
I read the entry in Tukang Besi on MBA and UMNO agenda. What a naughty boy you are, Rocky.
ReplyDeleteSemua rakyat yang berugama Islam WAJIB setuju Allah untuk agama Islam sahaja seperti titah DYMM Sultan Selangor!
ReplyDeleteTapi kenapa DYMM Sultan Selangor membisu bila puak2 UMNO tukar kalimah 'takbir' kepada kalimah 'take beer'?
p/s: nak tanya pasal cerita liwat part 2 nie, harap ko leh 'clarify':
1) ada angkut tilam lagi tak?...tak sabar nak tengok tilam bertompok kat front page Malay mail.
2) maksud liwat tu masih lagi "memasukkan zakar kedalam dubur" ke atau dah tukar maksud lain? Saja nak tahu..
Kenapa?
1.PI Bala ada claim Najib liwat Altantuya. Najib diam sahaja..maksudnya setuju kan?
2. sekarang UMNO dok berdemo ada 'peliwat agama'.
3) Enjin jet hilang masa Najib jadi Menteri Pertahanan. Jadi Najib 'liwat' negara kita?
sodok mee
The case is about corporate governance. We are not sure who screwed who in a previously lovey dovey JV company.
ReplyDeleteYes Rocky is right that it has to do with taxpayer's money, but NOT in relation to how the court has ruled. Rather it has to do with how the Board of Directors of UEM had discharged their duties.
If legally UEM had committed an offense, that means the entire Board has to resign, as they are, indirectly, custodian of public funds.

Many sickos let loose their frustrations here.
Did UEM enter into this JV agreement when it was a public company or after it was transformed into a GLC ?
ReplyDeleteIf this was done before being "transformed", shouldn't the previous owners be held responsible and liable ?
As an afterthought, should MACC investigate, since public money might be at risk ? (Its an afterthought, since it is most unlikely since MACC seems to want to focus on the smaller cases.)
Rocky, for my view the real issue here is not 'Allah' it probraly the impact on the judgement as quoted in one of the comments I received. Some of the points excerpted below:-
ReplyDeleteLet us take a closer look at the future implication of the High Court decision.
First of all, we have to understand how Legal System works.. When a judge makes a ruling/decision on a case they would tend to refer to previous decision made by the same Court.. For example (very simple example) :
a) On December 2000, Ali was caught of eating an apple which he took from his neighbour's garden. He was sentenced to pay RM500 and 1 day in jail.
b) On December 2009, Abu was caught with eating an orange which he took from his friend's refrigerator when he was visiting his friend's house.
) When Abu is brought in front of Judge Fatimah, the Judge will check if there is any previous "similar" decision have been made. The prosecutor (peguam dakwa) will then recommend to the Judge to use the same setence which was made on December 2000 against Ali.
d) This is what we called as "precedent". Since there is an existing "precedent", Judge Fatimah will then sentenced Abu RM500 and 1 day jail.
e) If compared between Ali and Abu, it would look like Abu committed a lesser or different crime but in the eyes of the Law they both committed the same crime and the sentence should be the same.
Let say a year from now, on 09.01.2011, a person of Hindu or Buddhist or ANY faith go to the court and say " I want the word Allah to be used to refer to my God ".
Since there is already a precedent (31.12.2009 - Judge Bee Lan decision), the court will then say OK using the same basis of "human rights" . At the end of the day, everyone will then start to associate the name Allah with their God. It does not matter if the faith is Samawi based (Judaism, Christian and Islam) or non-Samawi based (Hinduism, Buddhism, Ayah Pin, etc...)
Let say Ayah Pin followers go to the public and shouted, "Wahai orang ramai, Ayah Pin ialah Allah!" END:
My layman view:-
The govertment is right to appeal the case to overturned the judgement as what I as a layman think in the first place the judge should have dismissed the case as non trial since it may lead to bias example A non Muslim judge for Allah issue or what if A muslim being made a Judge for Allah issue?, This may lead to injustice.
Whatever is it the KDN should be more carefull when making an action. I think the main media and online portal should emphasise on the impact of the judgementr ather than the exclusive rights or who owned 'allah' issue since we have to understand for some community they have been practising it for hundred of years.
The other fact is PKR and PAS actually do not supports the judgement as evidence in the opposition rule state such as Selangor. Go to Shah Alam mosque and you will see a banner that says ' Allah is exclusive for Muslim'. This contracdict what PKR muslim and Pas statement of supportinmg the judge. Pas is not about religion it's about Politics.
