Selamat Berpuasa

Ramadhan never fails to take me to far away places that I've been. Taj Mahal is an all-time favourite but the Boscarsija Mosque (see pic) in Sarajevo that I visited, when Bosnia was war-torn and Malaysia was doing something, is always special. Back home, the Shah Alam state mosque is awesome.
There was a mosque up in the hills in Clementi in Singapore, where I prayed as a boy, but I don't have its picture, except for the one in my mind.
Elok-elok poso tu, brothers and sisters, wherever you are.

Yes bro, i remember that little mosque on Clementi Hill. That where I had my nikah ceremony . How could i forget it.

Visited it a few years ago and I couldn't recognize it anymore. Not for anything --but there don't seem to be a hill anymore. Use to remember how its majestic position gives you such a commanding view overlooking clementi road and the hill slopes.

Sadly its just another building now. Maybe we've grown bigger and older now or the poor mosque has been minimised to such a state with all the progress around it.

    Anyway--selamat berpuasa bro !

  18. Hei Morons!

Puasa puasa aja le! Jangan lah berpuisi saperti menyeru meneguhkan jati diri, kuat kan iman blah blah blah!
I hate it when self-righteous Muslims, especailly Malays, they are very fond of reminding others to be closer to God blah blah blah! as though we are not! Hey! Muslims are naturally close to God that is their raison de'tre if they are one. They pray, they do not commit sin to hurt other, they do not commit the heinous and unnatural act such as buggery and corruption, stealing from others and to help thy neighbour, among others!
I hate it when Muslims, the self righteous one of course, who stop from doing unnatural acts of such as buggery, corruption, stealing, drinking alcohol for only one month and they feel good about it, to them fasting is like one month of "Catholic confession forgive me father for I have sin" crap! What a bunch of hypocrite!
I also hate it when Muslims, the Malays especially, to go on a food binge and spree at the market buying ikan bakar, murtabak bunch of them, or going to hotels or restaurant stuffing themselves dead, well this to me is not Islam, as I have been taught. Come Ramadhan all Muslims, as one of the five pillars, must do and please do not be condescending to one another, puasa tu puasa saja le! Dan jangan lah chuba menjadi saorang alim menasihati suatu sama lain! Poso jo dan tutup mulut!
    Well, what the heck!

Selamat Berbuka Puasa and try to be a nice person while alive and dont sell the country, I think you know who you are Moron!

Just can't help noticing how the hotels and large restaurants have commercialised 'buka puasa'. One week before even the first day of Ramadhan, the local papers are bombarded with adverts. Mind you, none of the buffets are below RM60!

Apart from the exploitation, these outlets seem to miss the point of the true meaning of Ramadhan. I need some well-versed Muslims to help out..but this is a time for conservative behaviour,no?

They are truly health hazards too, what with the rich food being served. The Minister of Health can score some brownie points if he comes out with some healthy statements now :-)

    Bro Rocky,

Moderation. The key to all that is good, especially in this blessed month.

Yes, I too hate to see people buying wheelbarrow loads of food for buka puasa at the stalls. It’s like it’s a duty to binge to make up for the day's deprivation.

Also the commercialization of Ramadan by the hotels. A shame that net profits must be sought in such a gross way. Buffets that will invariably go to waste for it must be a tough stomach that can stomach so much food after a day without. Somehow somewhere down the line I think the essence of Ramadan has been missed.

Anyway, enough of this pontificating. Thanks for your blog and thanks for all the scoops. No matter how small, we must all do our part to make this country a better place to live in.

    A blessed Ramadan to all.

  28. As salamu 'alaykum and Ramadan Mubarak!
Yes I remember Masjid Tentera at Clementi hill, used to do my Friday prayer there during my secondary school days at West Coast Rd. I still can remember the sound of cicadas in nearby woods while praying there. Nice spot on the hill...

    Sdr pasquele

It is not about being hipocrite or being morons when we talk about ramadhan. There is a need to remind each other. We hope by reminding each other we can improve ourselves and be a better human being. While it is nice to chat and give comments on the blog..as an individual of Allah SWT what are we doing ...we criticise the slow and almost hopeless leader of this nation and other politicians, but as a citizen what can we do..just give comments on the blog and have a 30 second stimulating experience or what.
